Most capacitor order problems trace back to three gaps: a specification that drifted between design and purchase, packaging nobody confirmed, and commercial terms one side assumed. This page is the pre-order checklist that closes them — ten minutes with it prevents most of the emails a capacitor order otherwise generates later.
Lock the Part Number and Specification Revision
The part number has to fix everything the design depends on: rated voltage, capacitance, case size and terminal style — and the datasheet revision it is built to. Write the revision on the purchase order and agree that no substitution happens without written approval. This is the anchor every other check hangs from: incoming inspection criteria, quality claims and change notifications all reference "the revision on the order". How revisions are controlled through qualification is covered in supplier qualification. Quantity, MOQ and Packaging Multiples
Confirm the quantity against the family MOQ — screw terminal from 100 pieces, snap-in from 500, radial leaded and SMD from 5,000 per part number, negotiable case by case. The MOQ applies per part number, so multiple ratings can share one order. Packaging quantity follows the specification rather than a fixed rule, so have the packing quantity for each line confirmed on the order documents before production starts — your stock-keeping and incoming inspection plan around it. The full commercial logic is in MOQ and volume pricing. Labels, Lot Codes and Shipment Documents
Agree before ordering what has to arrive with the goods: the label content you need on cartons, lot and date codes in a form your traceability system can read, and which documents ship with the lot or follow it. At COREVIA, documents are provided per customer requirement — send the list with the inquiry rather than after the shipment. The traceability chain from lot code to records is what makes any later claim review fast.
Inspection Criteria and Change Notification
Reference the agreed incoming-inspection criteria on the order — the ones validated during sampling and set out in lot acceptance. And agree how specification changes get communicated: the expectation is that nothing changes without notification and your approval, which is only enforceable if the revision was pinned in the first place. Delivery Dates, Trade Terms and Quote Validity
- Terms: FOB in USD; freight method and forwarder arranged on your side.
- Production time: roughly 30 days from receipt of the deposit — the clock starts on the deposit, not on the first inquiry. The full mechanics are in lead times.
- Quote validity: 7 days — if yours has expired, ask for a refresh before placing the order.
- Season: if the delivery window crosses Chinese New Year, place the order early and confirm the production window explicitly.
Final Review Before Order Acceptance
The whole checklist in one list — if all ten lines are filled, the order is ready:
- Part number and case size
- Rated voltage and capacitance
- Datasheet revision, pinned on the PO
- Quantity per part number, against MOQ
- FOB price in USD and its validity date
- Payment schedule as stated on the proforma invoice
- Packing quantity per line, confirmed
- Required labels, lot codes and documents, agreed
- Incoming inspection criteria, referenced
- Required readiness date, confirmed as feasible
Purchase Order FAQ
Can one order cover several ratings below a single MOQ?
Yes — MOQ applies per part number, not per order. Two radial ratings at 5,000 pieces each are one production conversation.
Our required date is tighter than the production lead time. What now?
Ask early, with the part number and date. Whether it is feasible depends on material availability and the schedule at that moment — the answer you get will be a real one, not a hopeful one.
Can you hold stock for scheduled call-offs?
Everything is built to order, so there is no warehouse stock to hold. If the project needs staggered deliveries, raise it at quotation stage and what can be scheduled is confirmed in writing.
The quotation expired while we were in internal approval. Re-quote?
Yes — quotations are valid 7 days because the material prices behind them move. A refresh takes no time; if the market has not moved, the price has not either.
Ready to place an order, or want the frame agreed first? Send the part numbers, quantities and target dates — the quotation, packing details and schedule come back together. If you are still at the evaluation stage, start with sample qualification.
