COREVIA Application Guide

Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors for EV Charging Equipment

Selection guidance for aluminum electrolytic capacitors in EV charger rectifier, PFC, DC-link and auxiliary power stages.

EV Charger Capacitor Selection

Match the DC-link capacitor to charger topology and thermal conditions

EV charging equipment can combine rectification, power-factor correction and isolated or non-isolated conversion stages. Capacitor selection should follow the actual DC bus, ripple-current spectrum, cooling design, enclosure temperature, charging profile and service requirements.

Electrical stress

Define working voltage, transient margin, capacitance, ripple current, ESR and switching conditions.

Thermal path

Review ambient and hotspot temperature, airflow, heatsinks and installation environment.

Packaging and life

Confirm case dimensions, terminals, mounting, vibration and required endurance.
