Snap-in and screw terminal aluminum electrolytic capacitors can both serve DC-link and energy-storage functions, but they fit different mechanical and electrical priorities.
Snap-in capacitors are typically chosen when PCB mounting, compact assembly and automated production matter. Screw terminal capacitors are better suited to higher capacitance and ripple-current requirements, serviceable busbar connections and demanding industrial power systems.
Selection should compare rated voltage, capacitance, ripple current, ESR, case dimensions, mounting method, ambient temperature, expected endurance and surge conditions. A reliable replacement is based on the complete operating profile rather than terminal style alone.
